Thank you kindly gentlemen. smiley - biggrin
Sam, is this a soundtrack CD? If so, might I ask after further details as I obviously *need* a copy to go with all the other stuff I seem to have accumulated about this strangest of all movies.smiley - ok

Yes, absolutely, it's one of those enhanced soundtrack cds with loads of dialogue from the film and the bizarre little folky songs etc. It is indeed 'weird' (or perhaps 'atmospheric' might be better). I taped the Wicker Man off the telly over Xmas because it was advertised as a 'director's cut' or something. Haven't watched that particular tape yet though so can't say if it's any different to other versions I've seen. Essential film though whichever way you look at it.

smiley - cool. I shall have to look into this.
I *think* the version shown at the New Year was the 102 minute print, though I've not watched it to confirm that as yet. I have a copy of the US video 102 minute print as well, so I *shall* make the comparison at some point.
It's all rather confusing, because clearly the 95 minute print is actually closest to a "director's cut", as that was the last version that Hardy himself worked on, and he could have left it at 102 minutes if he'd wanted.smiley - erm

Loved the soundtrack I have to say. I know some people think its cheesy old folk but some of those songs are really dreamy. Great stuff indeed.....

According to Silva Screen's latest press releases, it looks like they're releasing the soundtrack again, but this time in stereo, which would suggest it might come from the legendary "missing" dubbing tapes. No sound effects getting in the way (though I've grown to love them really) and possibly some of the missing songs and verses! Should be out this autumn.

Huzzah!

Have just purchased the very same today (30/09/02). Catalogue number is filmcd330, if you are interested.

8 songs from the original stereo masters (ie what would have been the original soundtrack album), 3 straight from the film, enhanced as far as possible, and 4 pieces of incidental music 'compiled from a variety of sources'.

So much more complete than the previous version of the soundtrack, it must be said. smiley - ok

Awix

(general Wicker Man soundtrack observation - wibble wibble wibble)

I've noticed songs from the movie showing up in the weirdest places. Willow's Song in particular, it's on the soundtrack of the original Spanish version of Vanilla Sky, and also in an episode of the yuppie soap This Life. This film gets everywhere...

Jimster lent me his copy of the new WM cd yesterday and I can confirm that it sounds ace - much better than the other one. The packaging's really cool too. smiley - smiley
