Does anyone think that the film's ending is similar to the legend of the Lord of Misrule? (I'm not sure how to explain this without giving away the ending...)

Hardy and Shaffer woprked *extremely* hard on the details of the pagan festivities.
Any similarity between what you see on the screen and genuine pagan rituals is entirely deliberate.
