These films are included in a piece I wrote about "China's 5th Generation Filmmakers", it is about China's History, Family life and the Persecuted in Zhang Yimou's 'To Live', Tian Zhuangzhuang's 'The Blue Kite' and Chen Kaige's 'Farewell My Concubine'. In compares and contrast the three films in respect the 5th Generation Directors, and also that all three films were at one point banned from screening in China.
