Covers all the basics And I like the fact that it's non-denominational, not propagating a certain discpline or style
But one thing I noticed - "And be careful to allow the horse to drink water immediately after running." - shouldn't that have the word "not" in?

I've contacted the editors. Turns out it was a mis-editing of my sentence. Mine was not entirely clear until you read the sentence following it. The editing flipped the meaning, and I never caught it

There's a German saying "Das Pferd ist hinterlistig, nach beiden Seiten abschüssig, und trachtet dem Reiter nach dem Leben!" - "The horse is deceitful, percipitous on both sides, and is after the rider's life!" - so we wouldn't want to give them any more incentive

And I think it's the Dutch that say: "Als er een god was, zou er geen paarden zijn." - If there were a god, there'd be no horses.

Oooh, can't remember who it was, some king or emperor, one of the Charles, I think, who said that you should speak
"Latin with God, Spanish with the king, French with the nobility, German with the servants, and Dutch with the horses" - and he was right! Horses respond to Dutch very well, even the German ones

I should probably have added that my reason for choosing that proverb is that I don't want the horse to mistake me for another rider with which the horse may have had a disagreement!
