I am researching the development of the canal and I am looking for maps of the Grangemouth area (1758-1850). Can anyone help?

Are you researching the canal for any particular reason, or are you just interested in it.

I am working on a history of canal navigation in Scotland with a particular emphasis on the industrial developments alongside the canals. My canal research will eventually become a book, if I can find a publisher and if I ever finish researching it. It is also a good excuse for wandering around Scotland.

The Mitchell library in Glasgow has some useful info on the developement of the Forth and Clyde canal, obviously it deals mainly with the Glasgow end of it but it might be worth while checking it out anytime you are in Glasgow.smiley - ok

I have been looking into the Glasgow Johnstone canal, and have a couple of drawings, some photos and some notes about it if you are interested.
