I do not know if I am in the right place but I dearly would love to become a Friend of Tibet and help their cause. Please will you tell me what I can do?
Kat

Hello, Kat. Believe it or not, you're the very first person to ask that since we started h2g2 Friends of Tibet.
Probably the best place to start would be to have a look at the new stuff Chai and I have assembled:
h2g2 Friends of Tibet - A2170982
We've set this up as a resource centre and meeting place. There is no membership list, as such. If you want to add a link to your h2g2 nickname to help spread the word, that would be great!
Under Current Projects, you will find some information about how you can get directly involved with helping Tibet right away.
If you click the Tibet News link, you will find some news headlines. You can also receive news bulletins by subscribing to the bulletin conversation thread at the bottom of the page.
h2g2 Friends of Tibet is still new; we had an official launch, of sorts, only last week. So there isn't a lot of activity at the moment. But I hope that will change as more people get involved.
I hope you find what we have put together interesting. Let me know if you think we have overlooked something or if you want a link added to something you have written. We welcome your contributions, of course, but please feel free to join in as much or as little as you like.
Welcome aboard!

Hi, Kat. How are things with you?
It's hard to tell (in fact, I can't) how many visitors we've had so far. I wonder if you have any suggestions as to how to make h2g2 Friends of Tibet more 'interactive'. It would be nice to find ways for people to add something of their own. What were your impressions?

Hi JTG
I hope you are keeping well. I am feeling well, thanks.
One idea is to have a guest book. I have a link on my page. I am limited to what I can do because I am using h2g2 via an email cable tv interactive link.

Thanks, Kat. That's a good idea. I'm a bit behind the times, I'm afraid, with the various GuideML gadgets. It's time I caught up a bit.

Hi JTG The h2g2 help desk can help you. The A number/link can be found on the FoLDers Arms page or on Loup dargent/Manda's page.

Thanks. That looks like a very useful gadget. I just have to think about where to put it that makes the most sense.

Take care JTG, I hope you will have a very good and peaceful sleep and that you will have plenty of happy and sweet dream.

"Now (at last) I lay me down to sleep."
I've added two of those Guestbook gadgets, one to the main page and one to the new Barkhor page. Both of them link to the same thread... I hope.
Thanks again, Kat, for the suggestion. I feel quite modern and up-to-date now.
Sweet dreams.

Thanks JTG, I have sent a letter to Mr Ahern but when I wrote to the Chinese embassy, I found that the address in the telephone book was was in Portland Place but in the postcode book it was North London.

Good stuff! The embassy is in Portland Place; that's where they have the Wednesday Night Vigil,

Embassy of China

I think today's project ought to be adding an embassy address book, something else I should have thought of.
Keep up the good work!

Hi, Kat.
I've added a few more little bits and bobs, including a list of embassy addresses and a letter writing tips section, loosely based on Amnesty International's recommendations.
There are also some links to several photo galleries in a new Gallery section.
I've also added 'Free Tibet' buttons. They're a bit crude, maybe, but what I lack in finesse I make up for in... well, presumably something. One lives in hope.
Here's where to get one: A2268506

Hi Kat. Crikey, has it really been 4 years since we last stirred the dust? How time flies. The old Free Tibet badge looks a bit old fashioned. Have you seen our new ones? You can view the entire collection at A2268506.
