h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Hello All!

I'm in New York, and for the past few nights, it's been terribly cold!
It's brought to mind, all those unfortunates that are either homeless and out in the elements, those who work in all types of weather, and those who are at the mercy of cruel, uncaring Landlords, who take one's money, but refuse to provide basic heat.
My own landlord (and his "right hand man", the 'SUPER'), have gotten quite daring with the provision of heat.
As the weather has worsened, they have apparently decided to burn us out during the day, and freeze us out during the evening, when it is much, much colder.
The past two nights have really been unbearable.
Using the old standby - the electric heater has not proven satisfactory; I continue to freeze.
Late last night, I found myself up,seeking another blanket, sweater, coat, to stay warm.
I then delivered yet another message on to the Landlord's mobile (having personally informed the Super at least 4 times, without effect!).
As I pay my rent on a timely basis, I am strongly considering seeking another place to live.
I truly HATE being cold in the place I (at least temporarily) call 'home'!
Anyone have similar stories, and / or 'creative' solutions?
