What an odd story! Anybody as committed to a hoax as Mary Toft ought to be... well, committed. On the other hand, it's a shame she isn't still with us. It would be fun to see what she could do with the WTO.

Note that Emma Donghue's book is a collection of unrelated short stories, Mary Toft's is simply the title story.
