Cruisers are a great ride and do make you feel like a rebel.
You are also more likely to keep your license - they aren't brill above 70 mph.
The wife & I hired a 250 Virago in Majorca for a day (a bit slow but we only ride on hols anyway). Legs stretched out, and wind to keep us cool provided a much better way to see the island than any Seat Marbella hire car could. We went from Puerto Pollensa, headed down the west coast through Soller, cut inland through Valdemossa & into Palma before riding back up North.
Unfortunatly, this revealed the bikes weak spot - the pillion seat - after returning the bike - Mrs Swizz got off her horse & walked like John Wayne.
Earlier this year we holiday'd in Madiera. Despite biz weather we hired a Suzuki Freewind. Not a cruiser but a 650cc trailee with a fairing and a comfy pillion seat. If anyone is visiting Madiera it is a great island to see by motorbike. There is a coast road east of Ponto Moniz. When we rode it there were heavy winds blowing in from the Atlantic causing crashing waves to spray you riding past. It is an island full of contrasts. Some of the scenery is incredible. Bike hire is cheap there too - the Suzzook was £43 for 2 days all in. As an inexperienced biker I found it to be the easiest & safest bike i've ridden with a pillion, and with plenty of throttle for a laugh.
Keep safe.
