For really eclectic percussion, go to PDQ Back aka--well, I forgot his name, but it starts with an S. In any case, one of those compositions includes a car horn.

Percussion ensembles use a lot of fascinating instruments and techniques. I've seen people (in concerts) play garbage bins, lead piping, bits of cars, the sides of timpani, cymbals on top of timpani and gongs in water. 
(That's why I'm a percussionist!)
