A Conversation for John Creasey and the Toff
Feathers for the Toff

Brief synopsis:
It didn’t make a pleasant story. An old lady had been violently attacked in her own home, robbed of several hundred pounds and some oddments of jewellery, and left for dead. Chief suspect was Danny Bond, tenant in the old lady’s house, and carefree young playboy by profession. Unable to give any verifiable account of his whereabouts the evening in question, he was in big trouble. But then the action came fast and furious as first the Toff entered the fray, and second, the man who could have supplied the answer to the whole case was promptly found – with a gut full of poison.

You'll find that synopsis came from the book jacket. Feathers for the Toff is based around Winchester and London. A good tale about blackmailing NATO officers. Good enough surprise ending (the old lady victim was the key evil ring leader, she turned out to be the mother of innocent chicken farmer. No Ebbutt, no Glory. Very little Jolly.
