Home Education - Sex!

Since we educate our children at home, we can't rely on teachers to tell our boys (6 and 4) about sex. And I don't think I'd want too.
But also, they won't be 'picking things up in a playground' - which is good too. (Playgrounds can teach children lots of real rubbish!)
So we're committed to telling them about sex ourselves. But this is relatively easy - because they haven't learnt (in a playground) that sex is rude or dirty or funny or exciting or disgusting or - well anything really. So it's quite easy to explain the basic 'mechanics' of sex, bit by bit, when they ask questions (or even when they don't)
And nobody needs to get embarrassed.

We too are educating our son at home, and any other kids we have.
Likewise we look forward to being able to supply them with straight forward and correct information, as opposed to the kind of thing we ingested during our own playground days.
Home Ed also means that if your own sexuality is not the vanilla brand of monogamous heterosexuality then you can ensure that your children retain an open mind for long enough to make up their own minds on the subjects of heterosexuality, homosexuality & bisexuality, rather than having them closed by peer group pressure or worse the distorted views of straight and narrow school teachers. I know there are some wonderful people out there in schools, but how many of them are members of the sexual minorities?
Our children will grow up surrounded by a healthy mix of sexualities as we have friends of all persuasions.
