A Conversation for Miranda Warnings

Listening to it on TV it comes across as agressive when the phasing is
"Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law." Use "against" sounds like it's not going to be a fair fight and trickery while questioning will be employed.

Two Bit Trigger Pumping Moron

I think it's supposed to. The idea seems to be to shock someone into invoking their rights. When I was new, I know I surprised people into shutting down by reading them their rights.

Now I can handle it pretty smoothly so they're not shocked. The impression I try to give is that it's a minor bureaucratic hurdle that we have to get through so that I can hear their side of the story.

Generally, I'll talk to the person for a little bit first and get a verbal agreement to talk before I even get the form out.
