My wife & I keep a sailboat at a marina south of Houston, Texas, USA. The area has a lot of marinas, and its very common to see ports of call (painted on the stern usually below the boat's name) from other coastal areas in the US - Miami, New Orleans, California cities. We sailed into the marina one day and noticed a large sailboat tied up near the entrance, the port was "Jersey, C.I." I figured I knew what Jersey was (wrong), but I asked a man on deck what "C.I." meant. He said "Channel Islands". I said "Oh." (Thinking that's why it didn't say "NEW Jersey".)
The boat was there for a year or so, available for charter. Sounds like a good life, they're probably in Tahiti by now.
