A Conversation for The Perfect Picnic

A most memorable picnic

Post 1

Wowbagger

Once I was a member of a picnic in far north tropical Queensland, Australia, in the very remote town of Kurumba on the Gulf of Carpentaria (this is all for the sake of geography buffs).

The morning was spent in a boat collecting huge mud crabs from various crab pots placed by our hosts the night before. We stopped at 12, roughly two per person. Our picnic was then set up at a scenic spot on the beach, with a huge oil drum and fire setup beside us.

We ate all the seafood there and then with magnificent salads and homemade breads, washing it down with our host's wonderous home brews, enjoying good food, company and seaside view.

To this day I have never experienced a more pleasant eating/picnic experience. And if ever I am in with a group where the topic of picnics are brought up, this tale is met with a respectable silence, nodding of heads and murmers of wonder and jealousy.
