A fun way of finding out more about rabbits is through attending a rabbit show. Rabbit shows are run all over the country under the aegis of the British Rabbit Council which is based in Newark. They can also let you know of local breeders as they are a good source of pets.
Any Blue Peter watchers might remember the large small animal show at Doncaster Race Course they have visited in the past - the biggest rabbit show in the country which is allied with other small animal shows - hamsters, gerbils, rats etc.
By the way VHD is a notifiable disease to you vet, and every rabbit in contact with it will have to be quarantined.
