The grapefruit bears significant similarity to the orange, so
one might be tempted to apply a similar technique in preparing it for eating.

At least I did. Once. It doesn't work. Now I know why they have
in the shops such items as grapefruit knives, just beside the
champagne beater (?) thingies.

The grapefruit presents a more complicated exercise, aside from being larger it also does not posess the same exisistential self-reference as the orange orange. In fact it's name is almost self-contradiction.

It does however posess another step that may not be possible with the orange:

After seperating the segments, use the fingernails of both the thumb and pointer finger to seperate the thick part of the lining that would be located near the center of the grapefruit. Now, peel back the flat sides and remove them from the section. If you have been very gentle you should find that the juice is finally contained in small sacks that may be individually consumed and shared.

I often eat the parts of the fruit as they are seperated, this is fruit fiber and is probably good for the health.
