My goodness,
I had almost forgotten about this particularly talented orchestra. When I was young my father established that on Saturday evenings over dinner we would all educate our musical tastes by listening to music that is...shall we say....not conventionally popular. This period every Saturday was called "Naff Hour" and during one of these wonderful weekends we were introduced to a dusty record of the Portsmouth Sinfonia. I don't think I'd ever laughed as much in my life! They are, almost entirely awful, but there's just enough tune to make you think it might pick up any minute and start getting good....it doesn't, but there's always that chance!
ANyway, thanks for the memories, I must dig out that record!
