Drawn here by a recent link in the 'Can I conduct an experiment thread?'
I was delighted to read your thoughtful, thorough and unbiased biography
of a flawed but important figure of Canadian and Environmental history.
Thank you.

smiley - ok
I did try it when it appeared on TV but I confess that
Pierce Brosnan's 'Englishness' exacerbated the sense
of 'fraud' that was instilled in me during my later school
years, at a time when Grey Owl's books were being
shunned and dismissed by 'educators' and librarians.

Canada was embarrassed when this Truth came out and
we were told to suppress our fledgling enthusiasms; sadly,
we lost a full generation of environmentally sensitive citizens
to a false and counter-productive righteousness that was
little more than a reversed form of racism.
smiley - erm
Your essay (and, god bless 'im, anhaga) has restored
my childhood faith in Grey Owl and the cause he began.

PS: Glad to see your entry includes this link:

which I think I first saw in first grade at school
when we were still 'allowed' to read his books.
