A Conversation for How to Fly Using Meditation

Whatever happened to "throwing yourself at the ground and missing"...?
Oh hey, lets not forget over-the-counter generic cold medicine... the little red pills especially... (taking more than 4 at a time can produce some interesting flights, but is not recommended)...
On a more serious note, the whole Meditation/Flying/Dreaming thing can also be accomplished while Lucid Dreaming (those times where you realize you are dreaming and, with practice, can learn to take control of your dream)... there's a very informative artical on Lucid Dreaming floating around h2g2... just do a search and I'm sure you'll find it.
Also, if anyone is interested, Flying is one of the most common events that occur in dreams (as is Falling)... it is representative of the dreamer's ambition. If you flew easily, you will achieve your goals. But if flying was difficult, there may be some hurdles or obstacles to overcome. Flying may also symbolize the dreamer's excitement over a recent accomplishment.

Hi Gypsy,
well, I thought my way to fly is lucid dreaming!?
Many thanks for your hints on flying as a symbol for the dreamers goal achieving ambition! Would surly explain my way of life! Never saw it like that. I'll start a little investigation.
With a warm welcome,
Wonko

Hey, thanks for replying...
I think your Meditation/Flying thing is very similar to Lucid Dreaming. The only reason I separated the two is because during meditation you are not actually asleep, but during Lucid Dreaming you are... also Meditation is a more intentional state of consciousness (you purposfully focus your mind on a goal). Lucid Dreaming is kind of a "happy accident"... (you find yourself dreaming and you decide to take control of it)...
Both Meditation and Lucid Dreaming take quite a bit of mental focus and practice to perfect, but both are very benificial to mental health, stress management, and overall well being. I've read some studies that say that Meditation and Lucid Dreaming increase memory, the ability to process details (We gain a heightened awareness of the world around us), and boost our immune system... So it all sounds like a good idea to me...

I should have included your information in the entry! Maybe sometime I will do a revision. It's a pity I don't do meditation any more because of lack of time. It's a hard life!
Hope you have more time at hand!

Since you don't have time for meditation, then Lucid Dreaming would probably give you the best of both worlds... you basically meditate while you're asleep, and it doesn't impede your daily schedule... The trick is just training yourself to recognize when you're dreaming and then focusing your mind enough to take control of your dream and lead it in the direction you want it to go.
Keeping a Dream Journal is a good way to help you improve on this skill... Immediately when you wake up, write down everything you remember about your dream... even the tiniest details (colors, smells, background objects, people's faces, feelings, etc.) can be signifigant. As you do this, you'll find yourself focusing on more details when you dream, and also beginning to recognize when you are dreaming. Then all you have to do is teach yourself to take control... Its not difficult once you get the hang of it.

Many thanks, I'll try that! I once had a dream in full color, it was overwhelming. Very bright colorful pixels. But I never managed to do it again.

One of the books I have on interpreting and analyzing dreams says that a mix of colors (as in a rainbow) is a sign of great good luck and happiness.
I've always been interested in dream analysis and if you have any questions about dreams or their interpretations, then I could probably find the answers.

Hey,
I used to be a pilot on a Navy Carrier. And I must say that flying a plane is nowhere near as good as flying in a dream. I just had another dream last night and that is why i searched and found this. I am happy with what you are all talkin bout. It seems to explain all my dreams of flying. In fact most dreams i have are about flying or being some kind of hero of some sort.
Thnx Again
