A Conversation for Spell Checkers - A Warning

I broadly agree with the article but do have some sympathy for spell checkers. My typing isn't always what it should be and I often mistype things. The spell checker generally picks these up for me and that does save time when I'm proof reading as the bloomin' abvious stuff is highlighted (should that be highlit by the way?).
My problem is that resorting to pencil and paper I have found that I now write like I type and things that I thought were my fingers getting knotted on the keyboard I still do writing with a proper implement. I wonder if any psychologists could explain that for me.
