I recently stayed in Mountain View for a month and went to San Fransisco on Caltrain and was *lucky* enough to be on one of the 900 trains that hit someone (the person in question was considerably unluckier). As you correctly say we were delayed for about an hour, but what I noticed was the honesty of the announcements which kept us up to date with the situation. In the UK, you'd be lucky to be told why you had stopped for no apparent reason, and if you were it would be an "unavoidable delay". On Caltrain we were told pretty much exactly what had happened, how the person was doing (alive at first) and then outcome (sadly he didn't make it).
It's the little differences you notice...
