sweet dreams
and try not to forget that we've already talked about the whole - comet hitting Earth/don't wanna get hit on the head/90-day crack binge - thing. Twice.
i both of 'em b/c they both use the round "face" as whole round bodies. so cute!
i will try to propagate more of my MEMES onto you soon
PeteY out!
what are we supposed to be talking about now?
%- | ? Posted Jan 19, 2003
hey, maniac. i can't remember what the heck this conversation was supposed to be about ... i guess that's irrelevant now
so, petey's got some questions for ya
1. What would you do if a comet was on its way?
2. remind me to show you a kick ass website with all kinds of funny stuff .
. i guess that one wasn't really a question
3a. WHAT ARE 10 WORDS THAT DESCRIBE YOU?
3b. Here are some words i would use to describe peteY.
a thinker.
cynical
open-minded
pessimistic
psychotic [just a bit]
unusual [but mostly good ]
3c. Here are some words that others have used to describe me in the past 6 months.
sally: "...interesting/massive/fun...but i'm just not attracted to you" . i don't like that one
ariel: "...understanding...really cute...you are HOT..." peteY likes this one
susY: "...super smart, good-looking, interesting...funnier than Hell..." peteY likes this one, too
4. and here are some things in my apartment that might give you a clue about me:
one giant Cartman Latex mask
one Chucky doll [believe it of not, he hasn't come to life and killed me yet]
one Apple G3 powerbook that i use as a paper weight. it doesn't work anymore.
40+ Eurodance CD's
3 boxes that serve as furniture. i wonder if *you're* requirements for furniture exclude cardboard boxes
one white beanie bear
one beanie Einstein doll
at least 12 cans of diet coke in the fridge at ALL times
anywho, i'm about to go work out now. chest
petey out!
ps: if you can't think of 10 words, just come up with as many as you can
what are we supposed to be talking about now?

%- | ? Posted Jan 20, 2003
hey, how do you like my new name?
i like your 10 words , but were the "pessimistic" repeats a filler or are you THAT freegin bad?
and, "semi-intelligent"? are you sure you're not of "superior intellect" like myself ?
"strange", eh? there's all kinds of strange. what kind are you?
do you ever feel like nobody really understands you? that's how i feel
"cynical". peteY is King Cynical i think that we HAVE to be cynical, given our resistance to the mind tricks and illusions that pervade humanity
"critical" of yourself? i'm critical of myself.
oh, are those 10 of your own words? ya think other people would say the same things about ya?
about your things:
star trek dvd's. you even got the ODD numbered ones
AND YOU HAVE CARTMAN, KYLE, STAN, AND KENNY?
awesome!!! that rocks!!
i don't have any dolls
but, i DO make a Mr Hanky almost every day! i know
are you obsessed with Patrick Stewart?
if you are gonna be fixated on one man, at least pick the right one! [Schwarzenegger]
i'm on-call tonight, so i'm feeling especially . i need more dopamine. dammit. i hate my low hedonic setpoint
i THINK out
finally, a prayer i can use
%- | ? Posted Jan 20, 2003
Dear unknown universal force who may or may not exist,
We hope that in your potentially existent total/partial wisdom you will hear our prayers on this Thursday afternoon. We picked a Thursday afternoon, because we figured that if there is a God of some sort, his/her weekends are already pretty full and Thursday afternoons are probably kind of dead.
First, we ask that, if in fact there is a God (and there could be, although the jury is still out as far as we're concerned), that you hear our prayers through the hearing mechanism of your choice. We will be brief, as, if you exist, you must be pretty busy, and if you don't, we will look funny if we talk to ourselves for too long. Thus, we will skip the bulls#!t.
(Congregation turns to very end of prayer book)
1. Dear powerful force (Buddha, aliens, whatever ) please give us some nice stuff. Maybe a sports car, or, if you have the power, a really good condo near a lake or ski resort or something.
2. If indeed there is a complicated theological structure to the universe, and if that structure contains some kind of hell/fire-area/penalty box , please make sure that we don't go there. Since we admit that there is a probability that demons exist, we really would like to avoid being put in a position where they get to eat our lungs. So, please give us a hand in that department, if in fact you can.
3. Please heal our sick friend (insert name of sick friend, i.e. 'Jim') Jim. If you exist and have some kind of divine plan that calls for Jim's death, well that's kind of a bummer but we'll understand. However, if Jim is going to die and make this congregation take care of his illegitimate children as a result of some random molecular interaction , it would be nice if you could use any divine power which you might well possess to intervene.
Thank you for potentially directing some divine interest in our direction.
(optional "Amen" or "God is Grrrrrreat!", if you feel like it)
COOL, HUH?
i THINK out!
Strange
Amanda Posted Jan 20, 2003
I think people think I am strange.
This may be paranoia due to the depression thing, but maybe I am strange.
People tell me I am intelligent, respected, sensible, like-able, but I don't tend to believe em.
I think the only person who truly understands me is my mother.
I do have the odd numbered trek films, but only for the sake of the collection. I aint never watched em.
I have only seen The motion picture, and Generations onwards.
I am not a true trekkie. I just watched from TNG.
I am not obsessed with Patrick Stewart, I also have autographs of Robert Picardo (EMH) and Robert Duncan McNeil (Paris). I am currently bidding on a complete cast photo of the TNG crew. (well the main 8).
My friend has taken this week off work, she is
I just phoned her and made her laugh, so now I feel better about that.
I am not tonight. I got off work early.
Hoorah.

why don't you believe good stuff people say about you?
me thinks you might have what i have and that's cognitive distortions. no wait! didn't i say that we're both seeing things more realistically? [depressive realism]
it's very interesting [to me] that you included "likeable" as something you don't believe in. one of the negative CORE beliefs in cognitive theory is that one believes he/she is unloveable or unlikeable
WHAT MAKES YOU THINK SO?
and WHAT EVIDENCE do you have that others think you are strange?
weighing evidence is another key tool used in cognitive therapy
you don't seem "strange" to me, but, then, i don't know you well. Or it might be that i have agnosia to your strangeness because i am the same kind of strange
see what i'm doing? i'm good at cognitive therapy. so i tend to use it whenever i get the chance
and, "aint never watched em"? i hope you don't teach ENGLISH
oh, what a relief. you're not obsessed with just patrick stewart. you're obsessed with the men of star trek
i'm today. i'm on-call, which means lots of work and no sleep tonight
poor peteY
petey OUT!

Amanda Posted Jan 20, 2003
I teach English
I spose I have low self esteem.
Deep down I know I am ok. Likeable, friendly etc, but just don't always believe poeple when they tell me.
I have zero evidence that people think I am strange. But I zero evidence that they dont think I am strange.
Amanda actually means, (apparently) loveable.
Crazy world.

you: I teach English
me:
you: I spose I have low self esteem.
me: me too.
you: Deep down I know I am ok. Likeable, friendly etc, but just don't always believe poeple when they tell me.
me: i don't believe ANYTHING my mommy tells me can't trust her if she says i'm awesome
you: I have zero evidence that people think I am strange. But I zero evidence that they dont think I am strange.
me: so you assume that they think you're strange
me thinks you gots some cognitive stuff i could work with
you: Amanda actually means, (apparently) loveable.
me: "amanda" is a nice name
you: Crazy world.
me:
more stuff from me:
i should do cognitive therapy on ya
that'd be cool really. maybe i can help you feel better about yourself .
free of charge, even i'm pretty good at it
i even know myself pretty well.
my negative core beliefs are
myself--i'm un-lovable and un-likeable. i'm weird
others--don't like me
the world--sucks
the future-- the world will always suck and i will always be unloveable. HOW'S THAT FOR PESSIMISM?
EVIDENCE:
i have some evidence against my core belief that i'm unlovable, but not enough to change it. i need TONS of evidence
i'm f**ked up ,aren't i
ok, gotta go home and catch some before i come back for call
oh, i'll let you know how MY first therapy session tomorrow goes
peteY's scared!
bu bye for now

who killed the maniac?
YOU---Is it possible to do cognitive therapy online?
ME---anything that is possible face to face is possible online
just slower DAMN, it's times like these when i REALLY wish we had a turtle smiley.
YOU---That would be cool.
ME---i would to do cognitive therapy on-line with ya
might help you feel less and more
YOU---How did YOUR first therapy session go?
it was fine . the therapist brought up some freudian stuff [ie, ?hogwash]... and related some of my stuff to my parents' problems. i'm just hoping that he can see things from a different perspective than me and TRICK me into feeling better
SO, CAN PETEY TRY TO TRICK AMANDA INTO FEELING BETTER?
actually, i wouldn't be tricking you.
and, CBT is very evidence based and scientific and logical

Amanda Posted Jan 25, 2003
I dunno that I wanna feel like a
Actually I am feeling better today.
I have been rebelious and not gone to college like I should have.
They are not very organised and do not tell us when they are not going to be there so I have not told them.
I may go shopping
Am I correct in thinking that Freud was an idiot to a certain degree?
Many things could be attributed to my my family life has been eventful to say the least.
I am prepared to be tricked.

sometimes, i'd rather feel like than
shopping is always good to boost the hedonic state for a bit, at least
i wish i had more money. like a few billion dollars more.
about Freud, you are absolutely correct!
he was both an idiot AND a pervert. very slimy sexual sicko
but, i don't base my therapy on Fruedian stuff at all. that's psychoanalysis
my family life was too.
one thing that was messed up about my childhood was i didn't have unconditional and my parents never each other.
so, was quite lacking...
i won't "trick" you.
i'll help you feel better by being honest, logical, objective, and weighing the evidence
