Now this is the sort of stuff the Guide should have!
Do I recall the LIRR from "Widow For One Year" - it felt familiar when I got to that bit - except John What's His Name (Hotel New Hampshire, Cider House Rules) wasn't really a fan of the train or the changes in Long Island. He lives in Toronto now. Near 'the Beaches' which are polluted, being on a lake.

Thanks, Xolin! smiley - blush

I never saw/read "Widow For One Year" (wasn't sure if it was a movie or a book), but let me tell you, the LIRR is no picnic! The PTB at the LIRR have just come up with the revolutionary idea of adding more trains during peak times so that maybe people can actually get to sit down on the train! Well, diddely-der-hey! smiley - online2long

I can't say all the changes on Long Island are for the better. Suburban sprawl is spreading further east, but at least they've bought up big chunks of the pine barrens for conservation.

All in all though, I don't think I'd want to live anywhere else, for a lot of the same reasons I mentioned in my Entry.

I just realized that my latest Guide Entry is also about an island (this time in the Caribbean). Maybe I should hop on the mainland for the next one!
