A Conversation for Red Dwarf - The TV Series

I'm not sure I have a favourite episode, but I really loved the first two seasons because the writers had to rely on clever writing and performance much more than the natty visuals.
I have tremendous admiration for the writing in general though; imagine having to come up with that much clever material, consistently, with only two people writing for the better part of ten years? Even if the episodes themselves weren't terribly terrific, the ideas presented were certainly top notch. Such are the vagaries of writing for television production (since I'm now re-reading the HitchHiker's Radio Scripts, and all the fun Douglas had in coming up with the episodes, I'm hearing an echo of familiarity there).
The only asset I can see in going back and digitally rendering the early filmed-effects is the creation of a huge market for original recordings of the show; I've not seen the entirety of the remastering, only a couple of new shows, but they do look rather odd compared to what I'm used to.
Anyone who's got video-copies of the originals, keep them! They might be worth their weight in lager, one day....
