PP stands for prince of peace
not proud preston.

Indeed. Prince of Peace is likely to be closer than Proud Preston (not that this is a bad sentiment!). It may also be that PP stands for the latin "Princip Pacem" (which means Prince of Peace anyway, so the point may be moot).
There does seem to be some debate on the subject. I like them all. I'd additionally like to propose "Parched Peas" a local delicacy.
