Ever play "Peaces Like Us"?
Freeman gets to pay off the negative karma from his other self by fighting for his freinds against the horrid Gman and his nasty soldier buddies.
And falling into another-world like a warped 'Office complex' level makes no sense! But this is my favorite HL mod EVER and I just thought I'd ask 
BTW, I quite like your reveiw of HL. I think that you miss out one very important aspect of "First Person Shooters" but that will be the topic for my first contribution to the H2G2
