There are so many arguements as to who is right and who is wrong in Israel/Palestine. My opinion is that if you take a stance about a situation that has a contraryt position that someone else can take, then that stance and indeed the contrary stance are flawed.

Example - Jews displace Arabs because Israel is their ancestral land.
Arab fights to keep his land because it's his ancestral land as well.

In fact if you go back far enough, they have a common ancestor so it's both the Arab and the Jews land. And seeing as you and I probably share that same common ancestor it's our land as well!

I dont like my family so blargghhhh!.
Anyway, how can you own land?

Sorry, Bluto, I don't accept that it's the Jews' "ancestral land". Many modern Jews (perhaps most) don't have *any* Middle Eastern ancestry. Palestinians owned (and despite the mythology we were taught at primary school) were farming that land continuously, right up until the Israelis grabbed it from 1948 onward.

With all due respect - only convert's to Judaism will have no Jewish ancestry (and I think you'd find it hard to find ANYONE with european ancestry who has no Jewish ancestors) and all Jews are descended from Jew's driven out of Palestine/Israel.

I'm not saying the Jewish occupation of Palestinian land is right, but then neither was the original Jewish dispersal, or any of the other persecutions that Jew's have had to put up with over the centuries.

But how can you own land?

As I understand it, Bluto, Arthur Koestler had something to say about that, but I don't want to argue about the nature of Jews and Judaism. But the Jews are living on sympathy from the Holocaust of WW2, which is rapidly running out, on account of the way they treat Palestinians! Not just them, but people such as Rachel Corrie, the woman who was killed a few months ago, for protesting demolitions, and the men from the Israeli Army who are in prison for refusing to carry out such demolitions!

BUT HOW?

Okay A in the UK - let me try and answer.

(1) Normality is the concept of the majority.
(2) Noraml people accept that land can be broken down into parcels and sold to the highest bidder.
(3) Owning a title deed means that the land related to that document is yours until you sell it or die - in the eye's of most people.

It's only based on assumtions that people make in order to live together in society - like these words are jsut symbols to convey my meaning. If I changed them arbitrarily plaaaar spling splin sylip you wouldn't be able to follow them.

As an Anarchist however, you subscribe to the view that all land is ased on ancient or modern theft and you are probaly right!
