If you're thinking about ways to get pregnant, the most important thing to think about is timing. It is the most critical factor, and yet so many get this wrong. Part of the problem is the widely held notion that women ovulate on day 14 of their cycle. This myth comes from the false assumption that women have a perfect 28 day cycle and ovulate right in the middle. The truth is, many women have cycles that are much shorter or longer than this, and they don't necessarily ovulate at the halfway point. There is a great range which is personal to each women, and therefore it is fundamental that you get to know your body and figure out what time of the month you are generally ovulating. Also keep in mind that this can change from month to month. It's quite common to ovulate on day 13 or 14 or 15 or even 16 for the same woman on different months. http://www.womenhealthcenter.net
One of the best ways to get pregnant to determine approximately what time each month that you do ovulate. The best way to do that is to get a basal body thermometer and chart your temperature each morning upon waking, before doing anything else.

Sometimes information can be standardised to the point that, in trying to apply to everyone it actually applies to nobody.
If I was to chart my temperature, do you know how that would relate to ovulation? Is there a blip when it occurs?
Welcome to h2g2, by the way.
