A Conversation for Twisty Ties
The tragic disappearence of the twisty-tie kind

Somehow, I find that twisty-ties tend to disappear in the black hole of household losses, (along with hair pins, thumb tacks and most of your loose change) and therefore, are not as useful as they may seem. In most cases, the careless crumple-the-open-end-of-the-bag method is more appropriate.

I have a drawer especially and solely for all the things that usually go awol such as twisty ties, thumbtacks, pencil sharpeners, odd socks, safety pins, spare keys, etc etc etc.
Why? Well they all REALLY seem to like being gathered together among their own kind which seems to stop them wandering off and getting lost. Mostly when they are left alone on their own they will disappear to go looking for others of their ilk to bond with. Save them the trouble and they will patiently hang around till you need them.

I have to agree wholeheartedly with this theory - items of this nature certainly do seem to prefer the company of their own kind. I have a drawer in the kitchen which contains much the same sort of stuff as already mentioned (except the socks probably). Of course, this is usually the drawer you forget to empty when you move - or, if you take it will you it will find a way to escape it's container and join the great National/International Gathering of Odd Bits And Pieces.

Yes, I have to agree w/ that theory. I think they all gather in someone's sofa. That's usually where I find my Odd Bits and Pieces.

The question is... who's sofa do they migrate to when you're moving house? Is there some national refuge in someone's house somewhere. Is there some poor soul sitting on a sofa so deformed and swollen by twisty ties, push tacks and odd socks that they can't sit down for two minutes without falling off or getting lost down the voluminous back crack of the cushions? The General Public MUST know!
