h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

I've been playing in amateur dart leagues here in the US (and also while I lived in Puerto Rico) for the past 15 years, and thought I'd let you know that the standard game here is Cricket (close 20,19,18,17,16,15 Bull by scoring three times on each), or Killer Cricket (the same, with points for scoring beond three times before the opponent closes his number. Killer Cricket is a game of strategy, as it is necessary to have a higher point value so it is possible to have everything closed but still need to make up points before winning the game).

We also play 301 (double on, double off) 401 (double off, usually with a partner) and 701 (double on and off, generally with teams made up of 4 or 5 participants).

I also play all of these games. I play what you term Killer Cricket (known here(Utah)as simply Cricket) most of the time. I own a tournament quality britsle boar dart board and a number of darts. I unfortunatly have no where in my apartment to set it up. I hope to have a game room in my next house for precisely that.

Marv, I will challenge you to a game when you visit NZ. I am heavily involved in dart administration on the East Coast of NZ - mainly because I am not a very good player (...and the honourariums aren't bad)

I don't know how your apartment is set up, but in the past when I was in a really tiny place I got a 4'X 8' sheet of plywood and leaned it against an outside wall with the dartboard attached, and laid a tarp on the ground so's not to lose the darts that bounced back. Also a viable solution for camping trips, if someone's truck bed is big enough for the plywood.

Of course, this might not be the best time of year to do that in Utah. Brrrrrrrrr! Shivering while throwing doesn't make a happy mix.

The biggest problem in my apartment is there is only one place that is long enough away that I also could put a board up on, it is where my tv is so I am out of luck there.

Ummmmm....move the TV?

Alas, that is the only place that it will fit that I can get cable to it. There is no easy answer I fear.
