I noticed that you expunged some of my nonce phrases, but I accept the rationale. To follow through, 'Californiac' should be rendered 'Californian'.

Re para 2, a foible of mine is to avoid repetition of the topic word within a sentence. Thus, I follow, in this case 'barbecue', with a metaphor, in faith that the reader will easily assimilate it. Perhaps 'stoke the fire' would be more proper than the original 'Make Big Smoke'...

One thing I realised just today was that I neglected to mention that Tri-tip is beef, at the the beginning of the 'The Meat' section. Would you correct that for me?
