One illness that is very often overlooked when getting your jabs is flu. It is absolutely endemic throughout China, and probably most of Asia - something we didn't pay enough heed to...luckily I only got a minor flu, but I did have 2 nasty feverish days.
Also - a travel medical kit must include sterilised needles...you cannot guarantee that a hospital will have these as they are quite expensive but if you have your own you can be sure of their safety.
