A Conversation for Why There Are No Transitional Fossils

This is the best and most clear way I've ever heard the problem of transitional fossils explained. I'm very impressed.
Being a biologist myself (specialised in archea-zoology), this is a great article. This is a very logic, reasonable argument to use while discussing evolution. I wouldn't know where to begin to want to tear it apart. It's simply impossible.

Again, great work!
The analogy with the photo-album is realy good.

smiley - wow Equally impressed.

It would have been nice thought if reference had been made to all the guide entries relating to Creationism and Evolution/Darwinism so that visitors could instantly get a wider feel for the debate.

I would have said this in Peer Review had I noticed it there and apologise for not doing so smiley - sorry.

A very good analogy.

Previously, the best I've ever been able to come up with was firing the pieces of a jigsaw into a field from a cannon. Some pieces would be damaged and destroyed, and others might never be recovered, but you ought to be able to get enough pieces to see that there is a pattern, and even an idea of what the pattern is, without ever getting the whole picture.

I like your analogy better, and I'll use it in future. smiley - smiley

Yes, impressive is the word. Are there any books about that yet?

The Researcher has Retired

No, I feel that it is very poorly written, and needs much work on it to bring it up to standard.

I think if someone brings it on 200 pages, it´s sellable.

well done.

There was an entry in PR about why darwin was wrong and obviously it mentioned fossiel records and got right up people's noses.

Really would have been nice to have this to point to

For me it is an unforgettable explanation. I understand it and I can remember it and I can repeat it! Pastors like to point out that there are no transitional fossils, ergo no evolution, though I could never understand why it has to be either God or evolution. In my mind God created the evolution, like everything else. Congratulations on your clear writing!

John the gardener says, "Free Tibet!"

Here's my 'Well done' to add to the list. Good stuff! smiley - ok

So much of the incomprehensibility of life seems simply a matter of not having a grasp of really, really big numbers and all that they imply. Richard Dawkins shows in 'Blind Watchmaker' how probability is like magic when big numbers are involved. This Entry does a very good job of conveying the same sense of scale without the feeling of vertigo.

Thankyou, all (Researcher Returns: I'm sorry you don't like it. Why is not "up to standard", and what standard? Surely if it was not up to standard it would not have been accepted for the Guide?)

That was my question too! What standard?
