A Conversation for Ten Minute Meals
Comfort food

Some favourites from childhood don't take long to cook.
One of mine is tomatoes on toast. While two slices of toast are browning in the toaster, pop a tomato (pricked) with a little water into the microwave. Covering it with a saucer may be a good idea. Butter the toast while hot, lift the tomato out of the water and onto the toast and sprinkle a little salt over them.
Takes two minutes - does that still qualify for this category?
And semolina doesn't take as long as you'd think. Get the measurements from the packet. Boil the milk with the sugar and pour in the semolina, stirring continually. Is done in about 3 minutes from the milk boiling. Real comfort food with honey, maple syrup, sugar, jam or treacle, and an adequate supper as far as I'm concerned. If you're really depressed, add butter or cream too. If you're just trying to make a balanced meal, add some stewed fruit.
