A Conversation for Raw Garlic for Beginners

Wash with cold water

I was told that when washing your hands after peeling garlic (also after handling uncooked fish), you should use cold water.

Apparently, using warm water can 'fix' the smell on your hands, reducing the smell but meaning that it will take longer to go away.

Another garlic-related tip: to get rid of the aftertaste/garlic breath problem, chew a stalk of parsley (yes, it can be more than just a decorative garnish!)

I heard that too. I think it's because warm water opens the pores on your hands so the garlic kind of soaks in. It's even more important with chillies because of the pain thing smiley - wah- another good tip is to rub oil into your hands first then wash it off afterwards.
