It is just as unsafe, to cross the road in Barcelona, as it is in any other big city. If you use a zebra crossing, then the drivers mostly stops for you, but it is not something, you should trust them to do! You can be pritty sure that a Taxi doesn't ever stop for you, because they are payed by the distance, not the time.
