Some of the more extreme examples of cat (or any other animal) hoarding are variants of Diogenes Syndrome, the medical term for those living obliviuosly in squalor. In Britain, such persons can be rehoused temporarily under the National Assistance Act 1948 whilst their dwelling is cleaned and/or fumigated.

Thanks...This article was started by googling on "58 dead". No matter how I changed the number, cats in the freezer kept popping up. I've since been adopted by one stray cat, but I'm trying to keep it under control. Wasn't Diogenes the fellow with the lantern looking for someone who was an honest person? Or do I have that confused?
