A Conversation for The Tenth Planet

Did anyone- like myself- immediately think of Rupert the tenth planet when they heard about this?

I seem to recall an article in New Scientist magazine ages ago talking about the inferred existence of a tenth planet that had been called Persephone.

Wasn't Rupert the planet from which that the ship in Mostly Harmless monitors Earth? The one that had lost its memory?

Tenebros

Yes and Yes.

Which again brings up the question ... what happens to modern astrology if this planet DOES exist?

Same as when the 9th one was found.

There has been speculation for dozens of years about another planet. With all the impericle evidence that has been amassed there probably has been a large body that has effected our solar system. Wheather it is a planet that had attained a very long orbital path or a rogue planet that has passed by and has been redirected by our solar system we may never know. There has indeed been sources outside our 9 planets effecting our solar system directly. A 10th planet probably. In orbet around our sun?? could be.. Or on a curved path as it is redirected by the gravity of our solar system. We can only speculate and look to the heavens. Also use a telescope..grin

That's astronomy. Tenebros was asking about astrology. They don't seem to have taken notice of Pluto, so whatever this is won't phaze them either.

Like Astronimy and Astroligy there is a slight relationship. Someone looking into the sky. Astroligy is based on what could be seen by others and what corolation could be drawn with day to day life. Fact or falacy is debatable. If there is a 10th planet, when or if it is found it will weave its self in to both astronimy and astrology with lots of fan fare. Both science and metaphysical will claim properties to certain actions soon after any discoveries.

Long live Astroligy, as it is helps us define ourselves as a species.
Long live Astronimy, as it helps us understand the universe around us.

That may be true, but I think (or is it hope?) astronomy lives longer than astrology.

Or...?

Which school of thought would survive longest? One based on (for want of a more respectful word, I'm sorry) superstition, or one based on bland methodic observation?

Rupert you are wise.

Astronimy will always be as it is the physical and Astroligy will always be as long as we as a species have dreams, desires, feelings, arguments and love. Astroligy is the emotion of the stars and Astronimy is the fact of the stars. Both will intertwine and make us richer as a species.

Skinnylinny the not-so-incredibly well known

Strange--now you come to mention it the tenth planet(Rupert!!!) was mentioned in our science homework today. I think that anyone who had read Douglas Adams would have called it Rupert-I certainly shall!

They should at least call one planet Rupert. Not necessarily a planet in our system but one in another.
