Mercury is once again visible from the UK (and in my case, Ireland). Low in the West South West after sunset, the only "star" visible is really the elusive planet.
I showed my 9 and 4 year olds, who were unimpressed, but at least they have seen it, unlike poor old Copernicus.
My 10x50 binoculars clearly show that it's not a point source like a star, although I can't make out its phase, which is apparently about 70% illuminated, near enough to three quarters full.
