I am not so sure advertising our presence is such a good idea , would it not be wise to find out what sort beings are out there first ?
It is nice to think that the universe is populated by Spielburg style cuddly ET creatures . Reality may be more like the Borg .

OK, so the aliens come and destroy us. Maybe it's just natural selection in action on a larger scale.

if aliens are observeing us via our broadcast tv i think they think we are all nuts, i hope they have not seen the xfactor or celebrity big brother if they have they never come here cos they think we all boring tv couch potato's ,,,

The nearest ones will be getting Big Brother now, but we'll have to wait a few more years before Simon Cowell makes his debut in space. Having already had Yoko Ono zapping stuff at them, they might be grateful for anything.

if these aliens are somewhere in an 160LY dia spere of space and are advanced enough to recieve tv we would probably know about the by now ourselves

160LY is less than 1% of the way towards the centre of our galaxy (I think). I'm not sure what percentage of the stars it includes, but I'd guess that it would be a far smaller percentage than that.

There's still ample opportunity for life to exist out there.

i would think any other race that has mastered space travel would of have solved , thing like greed,world government, war ect

Did you see the movie Galaxy Quest? It's an amusing take on what you describe. Aliens see a Star Trek-type TV show and believe it's real.
