Escape Pod Dreams - the artistic author Issue

Many years ago I was surprised

to learn that a cartoonist I'd been reading for most of my life, a fellow named Mel Lazarus, the creator of 'Miss Peach', had written a novel. I don't know why in my naiveté it had never occurred to me that a cartoonist might be capable of functioning in another field, if in fact the novel is different from cartooning. Having said that, I must remind myself and you that I have suffered from many forms of ignorance and naiveté over the years, and at the age of 46 I am probably functioning at the mental age of a normal 22-year-old college student.
