A Conversation for The Simpsons - the TV Series

Hello,
Occaisionally, they've introduced new words that are spoken only in Springfield. For instance, the motto of Jebediah Springfield was "A noble spirit embiggens the smallest man." When one of the teachers asks about it, she's told it's a perfectly cromulent word. In another episode, Mr. Burns declares he's going to "wallow in his own crepulence."

I hate to argue, but Burns uses the word 'crapulence', which means "Sickness caused by excessive eating or drinking" or "Excessive indulgence; intemperance". So, as you can see, it is a perfectly cromulent word.

Hello,
Yes, but I think he distinctly said "crepulence", although I suppose the second definition fits the situation (stealing a lollipop hardly counts as excessive eating or drinking). But then again, Homer repeatedly pronounces nuclear as nukewler, so it's possible.

Mr. Burns answers the phone by saying "Hoy hoy?", calls a gas pedeal a "volocitator", and a brake as a "decelamatrix", though in this case, I think that crapulence is what he saying because it fits contexually into the situation it is said in.

Hello,
He actually says "Ahoy ahoy?" which is funny because it's the greeting that Alexander Graham Bell suggested for the telephone. Just another commentary on Mr. Burns' age.

Hello,
A few other funny jokes about Burns' age in the Simpsons:
1. He wins the oldest man in Springfield award for being over 100.
2. His social security number is 000-00-0002
3. He hasn't forgiven his mother for having an affair with Taft.
4. In Cuba (home of many really old cars), he remarks "there's the new Packard we've been hearing so much about."

Amusing! Burns has to be my favorite Simpsons character (outside of Homer of course). Another example of Simpsons sterotyping at it's greatest.
