For those not used to cold climates, they're the only way to keep your toes toasty. They also have electric mittens amd hats these days, and you can frequently find them in ski outfitters and similar shops.

Oh wow, I wish I'd seen some of these things! I can't believe I've been snowboarding for something like ten years and never heard of them! Aren't they terribly battery hungry? Where can you buy them? How much do they cost? Tell, tell, tell!

I saw an electric gardening body warmer on one of those shopping channels the other week. Very fetching it was.

Just do an internet search on "electric socks." If nothing else, you can buy them from online retailers like Amazon. Different brands use two AA batteries, one 9-volt battery, or one D battery, all lasting 4-6 hours. If you plan on being out a long time, bring spare batteries.
