Miranda

Miranda was not pardoned by the Supreme Court. His conviction was reveresed. Miranda was retried and convicted.
Officers are not required to read Miranda when a person is arrested. The Miranda warnings are only required when a person is in custody and he is quesitoned about the crime.
THe first two years I was a cop, I probably arrested 60 or so people, and I only read Miranda three times. While I was a detective, i routinly asked suspects to come down to the station. I questioned them without Miranda being read, and then I'd let them leave. When they left, I'd go to the judge for an arrest warrant. (We used to call this the catch and release program.)
There are a lot of ways to get around Miranda, and to minmize it's impact on the suspect. Of the three times I read Miranda while I was a uniform officer, I got one confession. The other two wouldn't talk to me. One because she was smart one was crazy (to this day I don't know why I even bothered with her).

I'm trying to put together an entry on Miranda. I would appreciate any input.
