Sorry, but I couldn't let this be a 'neglected' page. I think Mark Knopfler's playing is the best I've ever heard, and I've been a Dire Straits fan all my life (my parents are rather obsessed with their music). We've also got each of the other albums you mentioned!

If there is to be a comeback gig one day, please write about it here on h2g2! I never seem to find out that kind of information, and I'd hate to miss it!

I agree - Mark Knopfler is a long way away from being a has-been. As my parents are too old (over 80) I suppose I should pass it on to my children. My second son enjoys playing "Walk of Life" and "Sultans of Swing" - he's a good little guitar player.

Brothers in Arms should be the Anthem of something - at least people ought to be obliged by law to SHUT UP when it's playing.

And apart from which, from the very subjective angle - I think MK has a wonderfully sexy voice and I am proud that him and his brother are British

Undoubtedly Mark is one of the greatest guitarists of all-time, but in all honesty (and by his own confession) he ain't one of the greatest vocalists.

I know there's a separate entry on Dire Straits, but I can't help feeling there's a lot missing here about Mark's musical career. Not that I could fill the gaps! I'd like to read about them though.

And I'd like a lot more 'younger' people to know what a great band Dire Straits were and know Mark Knopfler's music!

I also wrote the Dire Straits entry to the best of my knowledge, and I think that explains a lot in my opinion...
I just wrote a short entry on them and decided to submit it.. I honestly didn't think it would get approved but the subs seemed to like it... Sorry... But, there is nothing stopping a person with better knowledge of Dire Straits and Mark from writing a more detailed entry... Besides... Why can't we all be nice and shallow? hmm?
Okay... My entry isn't the greatest, but at least I have the honour of having two Mark Knopfler related entries approved...
It gives you a warm glowing feeling inside.... no... wait... that's a heart attack...

Well I don't know about the latter (and to be honest, don't wish to find out!)

I did enjoy the article though, but like a bar of chocolate, it left me wanting more!

It's a shame there isn't an official Dire Straits site... I know there is a Mark Knopfler one, but it focuses mostly on Golden Heart...
