As many fans one of the widest genres existing know, there is a well established national and international scene relating to HM. This seems to me to be another good place to promote your own local scene and keep it alive.
I come from Bradford in Yorkshire where there are currently three main establishments playing HM music. Two pubs, the Market Tavern and the Exchange and a fairly large nightclub called Rio Rocks can be found and are pretty good places to be depending on wether you like your HM new, old or anywhere in-between.
Currently, Bradford university is in the preliminary stages of hosting live acts.
