A Conversation for Helmut Kohl
Did Helmut Kohl implement Germany's reunification?

I'd rather say he had not only the "grace of late birth" but also the great luck to be chancelor of the FRG when the people of the GDR did their peaceful revolution. The "Staatsvertrag" was not worked out by Helmut Kohl but by Wolfgang Schäuble and by changing the old east-german currency into Deutschmarks at 1:1 rate he had no problem to take the new "Bundesländer" by storm. But who cares - he has his place in history. Lucky him!

You've got a point there. I don't think many people will find it though. I only happened along here by chance as I am finally finishing off my entry on the Palatinate and uploading it.
If you want to pursue this point further, you could, however, contact the author or editor on their home pages. All the best.
