This is a long-overdue update to A3502568 , which was compiled after Kate was the subject of a Front Page Talking Point, but before the release of the 'Aerial' album. I've written everything that isn't in italics; I'm not sure if, or how, that can be reflected in the credits!
The main changes are the deletion of a now-outdated section headed 'The long-awaited comeback?' and the addition of the 'Aerial' part of the 'Albums' section. I've also added Gary Brooker and Rolf Harris to the section on 'Kate's collaborations', and made a few more minor tweaks (such as acknowledging The Futureheads' hit interpretation of 'Hounds Of Love' in order to bring everything up to date.

As another female singer with a powerful voice once put it: 'It's oh so quiet'. Is there anyone in this forum?

I'm here. But I'm rather busy in real life at the moment, so I haven't had much of a chance to review anything recently.

As for how to reflect the fact that you wrote most of it in the credits - I'm afraid it can't be done. The official policy is that there is no higher honour than to be Author, so if you're an Author, you can't get a "Did most of the work" credit as well. The only other approach would be to make yourself the sole author and to demote everybody else to a "Quotations by:" credit, but that isn't really in the spirit of Talking Point entries.

Magwitch - My name is Mags and I am funky. Posted Feb 9, 2007
In the collaborations section it might be worth mentioning 'Once'. She sang that with the legend that is Mr Roy Harper.

Magwitch: I've looked it up and found out that you're right about 'Once' - and that Harper sang backing vocals on 'Breathing', and Kate sang backup for Roy on another track too. So a listing for Roy has been added to the 'collaborators' section, complete with a link to Mr. Harper's official website and a few words in praise of Kate taken from Roy's site.

I don't know much about the lovely Kate, but my first thought it that it is very long. Could it be split into two somehow? Maybe like the Queen entries - the band itself and the music separately?

I agree with Eco Worrier. At 7,800 words, this is too long for a single entry. It should certainly be possible to split it.
Can you suggest a suitable place for splitting, Ormondroyd?
Would each of the parts then get equal credit, or can you claim one of the parts as "all your own work"?

I have a completely arbitrary scale which I use to measure these things:
Less than 300 words - too short
1,000 words - about right
More than 5,000 words - too big

Well, I guess the easiest way would be to turn the 'The Albums' section into a separate Entry, as it is pretty long. That would also make amending the credits simple, since I wrote all of the 'Albums' section unassisted.
I'm happy with that plan if you are - but what happens then? Do I create a new 'Kate Bush - The Albums' Entry and put it through Peer Review? If so, do I have to withdraw and then resubmit the main Kate Entry - and would I put the revised main Entry here or in Peer Review?

I suggest:
1. You make a backup copy of this entry, somewhere on your PC in case the rest of the plan changes.
2. You create a new entry and copy the Albums bit into it, removing that section from this entry. Make sure there are links in the two entries to each other.
3. I request that the Editors promote your new Entry to Edited status.
4. When this has been done, I'll update the original.
How does that sound?

Hmm, Trio Bulgarka. I remember them. Do we have a guide entry on them? (ponders cultural gap in the guide and whether much information exists about the trio that's written in English)

If it's entirely new content I think the albums section should go through PR, to give other people a chance to comment on it, and contribute to it.
Although this page says if it's a completely new entry it can go through Update Forum I don't think that counts in this case, as there will be two entries.

Is that your interpretation of the rules, Eco Worrier, or is it what you feel should happen? The Eds have already said they're happy with what I proposed, but what do they know?
(not being even slightly sarcastic here).

Ormondroyd Posted Mar 28, 2007
There is one fairly substantial bit of all-new material in the Albums section: the part about 'Aerial'. But I guess the Eds would have realised that, so I think I'll go with Gnomon's plan.

OK - mission accomplished. The new Albums Entry is at A21197171 .

OK, a few corrections to that entry:
uillean --> uilleann
the only other track on the The Whole Story -- remove the first "the"
and there are string and orchestral arrangements came from Michael Nyman -- remove "came"
The songs on a A Sky Of Honey -- remove the first "a"

I'm surprised that the Entry on the albums makes no mention of Wuthering Heights - it may already be well-covered in the main entry, but that's a different entry now!
Tracks: Moving' -- there's a missing quote at the start of Moving

Gnomon - time to move on Posted Mar 28, 2007
The main entry:
There are two large quotations in the Great late Kate section which should be put in tags.
'Don't Give Up' a track -- add a comma after that closing quote
