The Welsh Development Board produced a TV advert in which the Lyrics to Cwm Rhondda were replaced with the names of companies trading in the principality, and the tagline "Made in Wales".
This was rapidly spoofed by "Not the Nine o'Clock News" in three sketches:
1. A list of companies that had recently gone bankrupt - "Failed in Wales"
2. A list of Welsh Girls' names - "Laid in Wales"
3. A list of obscure products ("..Rubbery lumps in Japanese lunches, Demis Roussos, Doner Kebabs...") - "Made from whales"
